Kirtan in Detroit Feb. 3

Come unwind at the sweet and quaint Village Yoga for an evening of musical meditation, otherwise known as Kirtan. Open your hearts to the enchanting sounds and feel the stress melt away. The newly formed group Kirtan Detroit will share tea, treats, and the gift of melodious sound. There will be community time for socializing both before and after the kirtan. All are welcome!

We are asking for a $20 donation (online), or $25 at the door.

Pranayama & Yin Yoga Feb 11

Chloe Karoub will be teaching a yoga workshop on the ancient yogic techniques of pranayama followed by a yin yoga class. Both of these practices have absolutely transformed her life. Over the past two years, Chloe has extensively studied yoga in Hawaii, India and Bali. In Rishikesh, India, she received her 500-hour teacher training certificate and she is a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. Chloe now does workshops to teach others some of the best techniques she has learned and practiced. Brew Kombucha Yourself!

In this workshop you will learn all about Kombucha tea and how to brew it yourself at home!

While making my own I have discorved fun & affordable ways to create one of my favorite drinks!

What YOU need to bring: A large glass jar (preferably half a gallon or larger)

~You will recieve a SCOBY, the natural culture that ferments the tea & instructions on how to do it yourself
~In adition you will be able to taste some that I have made myself and experiment with some different flavors

*This workshop is open to anyone who would like to come & learn just please try to let me know in advance if you will be joining us so I can be sure to bring you the materials necessary to make this

Valerie Weir

Valerie Weir has been practicing kundalini yoga since 1973 and trained directly with Yogi Bhajan.  She has also served as a teacher trainer for the Kundalini Yoga Institute.

Valerie has extensive experience in sound healing, having trained with gon master Don Conneaux and has completed level one training with Professor Surinder Singh of the Raj Academy.

Live Kirtan & Potluck

Live Music Kirtan w/ Gong Meditation & Plant Based Potluck

Saturday, October 14 at 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Come together with the community for a special evening of live music kirtan and singing, gong meditation, and plant-based potluck.

Kirtan, also known as meditative singing or chanting, has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while improving immunity, regulating hormones, and creating a peaceful disconnect from the usual chatter of our minds and replacing it with a joyful radiance.

We will begin our evening with one hour of devotional singing in Sanskrit, English, and Gurmukhi (kundalini yoga mantra) led by harmonium and Voice, with other featured instruments and artists, followed by an extended gong bath and celebrated with a plant-based potluck to close out our evening.

5:30 PM-6:00 PM: Live Music Kirtan w/ Harmonium, Percussion, Instruments, Open Drum Circle
6:00 PM-6:30 PM: Radiant Gong Meditation w/ Sara & Guests

Sara is a world-traveling Sound Healing Practitioner, Raw Foods Instructor, and Holistic Health Counselor with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Medical Nutrition. She applies a marriage of science and spirituality in her work.

A former neuroscience assistant, the effects of the gongs impacted her at such a deep level that she dedicated her life to them. She collaborates and studies with sound masters, mystics, and conscious chefs around the globe.
